Palenque to San Andres Tuxtla
9:30 Hours, 294 Miles
ZZZZZOOOOOOooooooooommmmmmmm........
All the way from Palenque to San Andres Tuxtla with only one
stop, at La Venta. I wanted to stop at La Venta because I'd
heard that it was the home of the Olmec people. There's not
much to see now, I mean, it's been like 2500 years since they
were around. Anyway, here's some photos.
Figurines in
the museum in La Venta. These pieces range from 1500
BC to 600 BC.
Me, with a big
plastic head.
(I mean that thing beside me.)
View from the summit of the only hill in
the whole world.
Bikers info, "nuttin". Flat,
straight, hot, fast, good road. Tolls at Villahermosa $17
pesos, La Venta $50 pesos, Minatitlan $13 pesos, Acayucan
$122 pesos.
I took the secondary road from Minatitlan
(or as my buddy Paul calls it Mini-tit-land) to San Andres
Tuxtla. It was okay, at least it had some curves. Once I got
past Acayucan, the traffic dropped off a lot too.
