The Angel of Independence

The Palacio de Bellas Artes on the east side of the Alemeda Park

A statue of Gandhi in the Alameda Park

These three photos stitched together show the view from my hotel room, from west to north, over the Alemeda Park.  The red, white and green stripes on the building in the center is a banner hung to celebrate Independence Day, 15th of September. The mountain on the extreme right (north) is only about 15 km away, smog reduces the view.

Alemeda Park as seen from my hotel window

Casa de Azulejos
House of Blue Tiles

It's tough to see, but these three statues in black represent the last three Aztec kings of Tenochtitlan, Toxcoco and Iztapalapa.

The Eagle and Snake, the symbol of Mexico.

I don't remember what this is either.

Another building I forgot.

The Gloria Estevan concert in February of 1997 was held at the Stadium Azteca.  This stadium holds approx 90,000 in the bleachers and another 30,000 or so on the floor or standing.  Imagine 120,000 people all singing, dancing and applauding as one!

A volcanic crater on the grounds of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
